Oumar has
recorded wonderful music from his home village on his visit this
summer and the CD is available either through him or through the CD Baby website.
Oumar worked with his home band called Batiyaye. Batiyaye is based in Senegal and have work as entertainers of the President of The Gambia for years. With the help of a dear friend of his (Tobias Sturmer) who currently lives in London UK, Oumar helped Batiyaye record a CD. Three tracks of Oumar's CD are with the group Batiyaye. The CD has a 10 page booklet (text supported by colorful pictures) detailing the function of all the tradtional instruments used. Every song or rhythm played has a function in his Joola tribe. Oumar makes sure the listener learns more than just hearing the sound.
