Having toured professionally as a percussionist for the Bakra Bata world music band, Oumar decided he wanted a taste of leading his own ensemble.

Oumar Sagna founded Sindoolaa Drum and Dance Ensemble in 2001. Comprised of dancers and drummers from Senegal and Milwaukee, the group stimulates the senses with the exotic colors, movements, and sounds of West Africa. Featuring a variety of percussion instruments, including kora, balafon, sabar, kotiro, bougarabou, tama, djembe, and djun-jung, Sindoolaa Drum and Dance Ensemble always leaves you begging for more.

In 2005, Oumar released his first music recording and subsequesntly formed the Sindoolaa African Music band. Calling on influences from Oumar's home village of Diatock, Casamance (Southern Senegal), the music fuses traditional West African and contemporary roots, enrapturing audiences with a unique sound. Performing regularly in Milwaukee, Sindoolaa features some of Milwaukee's finest musicians: Aaron Gardner (sax/flute), Joe Wong (drum set), Jesse Sheehan (sax), Didier Leplae (bass), Thacher Schmid (violin/mandolin), Miriam Levie (vocals/flute), Aicha Diallo (vocals), Roman Edirisinghe (guitar), Heidi Sagna (vocals) and Oumar Sagna (vocals, percussion).

Sindoolaa performs for festivals, schools, colleges, and organizations throughout Wisconsin. Contact Oumar for a perfomance today!
